No functional weapons are allowed at Fanboy Expo or the Convention center. ALL costume weapons
must be inspected at the Weapons Check area. Security will thoroughly inspect and mark weapons of
any kind to ensure they are safe and inoperable. Weapons check will be near the ticketing area/
entrances.

Simulated or costume weapons are allowed but must meet the following requirements.

1. All weapons must be easily distinguishable from real weapons and constructed from safe,
lightweight material. All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law.

APPROVED WEAPONS AND MATERIALS: wood, plastic, foam, rubber, cardboard, paper, and
thermoplastics (worbla, Sintra, etc.). Metal may accent the cosplay items but must not be used
as the primary construction material. Shields are allowed.

NOT APPROVED WEAPONS OR MATERIALS: no real weapons (disassembled in any fashion), no
projectile or firing weapons (Nerf guns will be permitted but zip tied to prevent firing), no
ammunition of any kind, no metal or real arrows or bolts, no metal or wooden bats, no steel
weapons, no flammable items, no helium, no dry ice, no metal swords or knives. Fanboy Expo
reserves the right to deem any weapon unsafe and/or prohibit any item we deem unsafe.
(We do allow metal swords if they are to be autographed by a guest. However they are to not
be sharpened and must stay completely sheathed at all times except for when the guest signs
them. They still must be inspected and approved by weapons checkā€

2. After each weapon has been checked, it will be tagged by our weapons check team. Security
will escort you to the Weapons Check area for inspection if weapons or props have not been
properly tagged. Once your weapon(s) have been inspected, do not remove the tag for any
reason.

3. Please don’t show your weapons or props in a threatening or menacing manner.
Failure to comply with Fanboy Expo official weapons policy may result in ejection from the convention
(without a refund) and/or potential legal action. All requests made by staff and/or security should be
followed willingly.
